KEYNOTE: FORMS OF KNOWLEDGE IN THE DIGITAL AGE

SPEAKER: LARS STRANNEGÅRD, PRESIDENT AT STOCKHOLM SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

Why is the role of philosophy and literature in the digital era important? How are contemporary art and fiction related to learning? And why should the construction industry care? Lars Strannegård will share his insights in why broadened horizons are so important in our digital world. He will explain how aesthetic experiences can be key to understanding others, interpreting big-picture developments in the light of established facts, and making sense of the present by tracing its causes in the past.

He shows how scientific knowledge is related to aesthetic knowledge and why we today need to emphasize the need to combine the hand, heart and head. We will at the end of this presentation reflect on the impact on our industry, our companies and us as individuals, what does it mean for a building engineer, an architect or a BIM-manager?

PARALLEL BREAKOUT SESSIONS

Cloud technology offers convenience, accessibility, and efficiency. You also facilitate collaboration, remote work, and data backup. However, your data is stored on shared, third-party servers, which can be accessed from anywhere. This raises concerns about the secrecy of the data, despite security measures in place. This is crucial as secrecy implies that all your information remains private, secure, and undisclosed, that you are in control of your data. In this session Pontus Bengtson from Autodesk will present the work they have done together with Trafikverket, to find the right balance. He will show examples of guidelines and documents that will enable you to be in control of information sharing and storing.

Speaker: Pontus Bengtson, Autodesk

Josef Carlson brings firsthand experience in leading the transition to ACC for Solar Park Construction. How do you implement a model and data-centric project with a focus on reuse? And how do you use data in the project to evaluate the CO2 footprint of projected material? The 21,000 m2 Lumi project utilizes the reuse of the original building stock from the 70s on a large scale to achieve sustainability and carbon footprint goals. Per Höglin from Byggstyrning comes to Nordic BIM Summit to show practical examples of reuse in a digital environment.

Speaker: Per Höglin, Byggstyrning

In recent years, environmental certification for buildings and properties has evolved from being a "nice to have" feature to a "need to have" for many. Legislation, such as the EU taxonomy and CSRD, is increasing the value of green properties and investments. Consequently, it is becoming more important to report and keep track of your portfolio. Property companies are opting for certifications like BREEAM as part of their sustainability strategy. This to adhere to more strict environmental requirements, attract investors and tenants, and secure better loan terms. Certifications also offer practical benefits by providing an overview of the project's sustainability status and objectives. However, many perceive certification processes as difficult and expensive. In this presentation Fabian Utigard from Kvist Solutions will share insights from success factors of the best in class in how you can turn this work into a success!

BIM implementation may seem like a bumpy ride at times as it involves a wide variety of tools, various design disciplines at different project stages that will all require various data sets of information develop to certain level of detail and with numerous metadata information assigned to geometry elements. To make things slightly worse the BIM Data will have to transition from design to construction and then to operation stage, where it will suffer several iterations through-out the building lifecycle. This class is meant to describe “WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE?” when using BIM in plain language describing the process from its end to inception whilst highlighting potential issues that may require attention with a strong emphasis on designing, building, and operating our physical assets  in a sustainable manner.

ROUND TABLE STOCKHOLM

Cloud solutions are here to stay. They offer us convenience; ease of sharing data and you can relay on that you have access to the latest data. However they also means investments both in software, licenses and training. How are we to defend these investments, are we truly finding the economies of scale we have been promised? Or could it even be so that it delivers more and other values that we have not quite accounted for yet? Join this roundtable if you want to engage further in understanding how the case for cloud investments can lead to increased productivity and thus profitability. Join us for a Round table led by Josef Carlson, Svea Solar and Brita Vonstad, Symetri.

The construction industry is responsible for 39% of the carbon footprint. More and more actors, from architect firms to software companies, talk about the progression they are making. Where do we as an industry stand now? Can we clearly see that we are “getting our act together” and what will this mean not just for us but for the planet as a whole, or let’s start here in the Nordics? In this roundtable we look forward to an interesting discussion around tools and methods to find out if we are now at a stage where we can start to see some real results. Join us for a Round table hosted by Jens Kollserud, CEO of Symetri and Ola Walvenius, consultant at Symetri.

The introduction of AI raises questions not only about technology, security and ways of working but also around our business models. Our industry is many times still based upon a model where we charge per hour. What will happen now when we can become even more efficient and produce many different versions at early stages and simulations covering different alternatives as the project matures? Are we now ready to charge according to values created and in that case who decides the value? Or is this an even bigger change, that impacts the different roles? Join this roundtable for an interesting discussion on how to change the business models in times of pressure. Hosted by Rikard Matson, CEO at Insikt and Christoffer Sundberg, Leader Digital Work Method & BIM at Insikt.
