Stockholm, Sweden – 7th October, 2025
Symetri, a leading provider of digital solutions for design, engineering, construction and manufacturing businesses, today announced its acquisition of SolidCAD, Canada’s leading Autodesk Platinum Partner. This move further expands Symetri’s reach across the Americas—adding Canada to its presence in Brazil and the US— in addition to its long-established European base.
Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Richmond Hill, Ontario, SolidCAD is a market leader in digital solutions for Canada’s design, construction and manufacturing industries. Its 150+ employees bring deep industry expertise and strong local insight, helping more than 6000 clients innovate, collaborate and accelerate their digital transformation.
For Symetri, Canada represents a strategic growth opportunity with its strong manufacturing base, rapidly digitizing AECO (architecture, engineering, construction, operations) sectors, and a highly skilled workforce. Federal investment in sustainable infrastructure and construction, coupled with acute labour shortages driving demand for efficient, technology-driven solutions, creates fertile ground for Symetri’s productivity and sustainability offerings. This acquisition positions the company to accelerate its next phase of growth in a stable, innovation-driven market.
Our expansion into Canada reflects our strategy to enable the world to design, build, and manufacture in a smarter and more sustainable way, whilst supporting local investment and workforce development," said Jens Kollserud, CEO of Symetri. "With this acquisition, we bring in a strong, mature business with an extensive network of industry experts. We are excited to work with the SolidCAD team and their talented clients to bring the next generation of productivity and sustainability solutions to the Canadian market".
“Joining Symetri marks an exciting new chapter for us and our clients," said Marcus Tateishi, President of SolidCAD. Our clients trust us to solve their most pressing business challenges, and this step enables us to take that commitment further. With Symetri’s global network and next generation tools, we gain additional capability and capacity to enhance data quality, configure solutions more effectively, and drive innovation within the Canadian market. It’s about giving the industries we serve the tools, expertise, and insights to stay competitive and ready for what’s next."
In the near term, the company will continue to operate under the SolidCAD brand name with a planned transition to the Symetri name over the next year. Day-to-day operations and existing client relationships will continue without disruption and will continue to be led by a strong Canadian Leadership Team. At the same time, clients will benefit from an extended network of industry specialists and a wider range of solutions, including Symetri’s own products Naviate, Sovelia and CQ.
